Mental is a way of thinking and feeling based on conscience that is reflected in a person's behavior. Dan I agree, that the mentality of people in the past is often considered stronger compared to children today. This can be seen in the way they faced difficulties and life challenges. Because people in the past lived more difficult lives, had stronger life values, and had closer solidarity and togetherness.
First, people in the past lived more difficult lives with limited resources and technology. They often had to really struggle or work hard to meet their daily needs. Example; they had to work hard in the fields and factories to meet their daily needs, and due to technological limitations, they had to walk or use bicycles to go to school or work. So, experiences like this unknowingly make their mentality resilient. They are used to facing difficulties and do not easily give up because they are already trained by the harshness of life.
Second, stronger life values, people in the past were taught to help each other, not be wasteful, and have an unwavering spirit when facing problems. Because they believe that hard work, patience, and perseverance are the most important values for achieving success. Values like these become their guiding principles, making their mindset stronger in facing challenges.
Lastly, their solidarity and togetherness were stronger. The relationships between families and neighbors in the past were usually closer. They help each other and rely on one another when times are tough. Strong social support like this is the source of great mental strength. Unlike now, in daily life it still feels lacking. Example; a teenager might have a thousand (1000) friends on Instagram, but when they face personal issues like academic difficulties or family problems, they might struggle to find even one of their online friends. Who can be talked to directly, exchanging thoughts face to face. The help provided on social media is often limited to comments like "keep it up!" or "you can do it!", which, although well-intentioned, do not compare to the emotional support from direct conversations or physical presence. This can make someone feel increasingly isolated when facing problems, as they feel that no one can understand or help.
So, it is indeed true that the mentality of people from the past often considered stronger compared to children now a days. Because people in the past lived more difficult lives, their life values were stronger, and their solidarity and togetherness were closer. Therefore, to strengthen children's mental challenges with perseverance, in still positive values, and strengthen social relationship in the real world.
