    Excessive consumption of junk food has a significant negative impact on increasing the risk of chronic diseases such as, heart disease obesity and diabetes, decreased brain function due to it's low nutritional content. These three factors directly affect an individual is quality of life and live expectancy

    First, increased risk of heart disease. Junkfood generally contains high amounts of unhealthy daturated and trans fats, which can increase levels of ban cholesterol (LDL) in the body. The rise in LDL contributes to artery blockage, which in turn increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Data from heart disease and stroke statistics in the united states show that approximately 15.5 milion adults suffer from coronary heart disease, Including 7,6 million with heart attack and 8.2 milion in 2016

    Second, causes obesity and diabetes. Junk food is high in calories, sugar, fat but low in nutrition, can cause excess calories, and fat accumulation in the body which leads to obesity. Obesity increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. Research by Eltom et al (2020) shows that children and adolescents who often consume food high in sugar are more susceptible to type 2 diabetes

    Lastly, brain dysfunction. Dr. Nadhiroh from Airlangga university stated that consuming junk food disrupt brain function. reduce, concentration, and impair memory. The high saturated fat content in junk food can increase harmful substances in the body. potentially disrupting blood flow to the brain and affecting cognitive function

    Excessive consumption of junk food has harmful effects on health including an increased risk of heart diasease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, as well as reduced brain function due to low nutritional value. These impacts not only lower the quality of life but also can shorten life expectancy. Therefore, it is important to make wiser food choices to maintain overall health
